Your Guide to Parking in Downtown Spartanburg

It’s a precious commodity in downtown areas, big and small. And it plays a major role in convincing people to come to Downtown Spartanburg for shopping, dining, or searching for something fun to do.

That’s right, we’re talking parking.

Downtown Spartanburg is home to available, accessible, and affordable parking options. Guests can typically find a spot in a city garage or surface lot easily, but let’s break down the parking situation in Spartanburg some.

GARAGES

Note: The City of Spartanburg installed parking kiosks in all garages in June 2024. Users simply take a ticket, park, and then when exiting, scan the ticket to pay the parking fee.

Tickets are required at all times, even during free parking hours.

The Kennedy Street Garage is home to 750 spaces offering easy access to:

  • the Spartanburg County Public Libraries Headquarters
  • the Montgomery Building
  • Ciclops Cyderi & Brewery
  • FR8yard

The St. John Street Garage also offers 750 parking spaces. Parking in the St. John Street Garage means the following popular attractions and residential options are easily-accessible:

  • the Chapman Cultural Center
  • USC Upstate’s George Dean Johnson Jr. College of Business and Economics
  • the Montgomery Building
  • Blue Moon Bodega
  • The Charles

The 650 spaces inside the Dunbar Street Garage are adjacent to East Main Street and within one-to-three blocks of:

  • Morgan Square
  • Ciclops Cyderi & Brewery
  • FR8yard
  • West Main Street mainstays
    • Main Street Pub
    • Rockers Brewing Co.
    • Little River’s Coffee Bar
    • the Hub City Bookshop & Press

Finally, the Magnolia Street Garage is also adjacent to Morgan Square, offering 554 total spaces. The Magnolia Street Garage is an easy walk to:

  • the Children’s Museum of the Upstate
  • Purre Barre
  • UnderPin Lanes ‘n Lounge

Best of all, this garage will be a quick walk away from Fifth Third Park, home of the Hub City Spartanburgers.

STREET PARKING

On-street parking is available in certain areas of:

  • West Main Street
  • Broad Street
  • Spring Street
  • Magnolia Street
  • King Street
  • East Main Street

These spaces are first-come-first-served, and some have time limits enforced.

SURFACE LOTS

Downtown Spartanburg has several surface lots available even during some construction periods.

The parking lot at the former site of City Hall offers 138 spaces currently. Those spaces will adjust as needed as the City of Spartanburg and Spartanburg County’s Joint Municipal Complex is constructed.

Spring Street offers 88 total spaces in a surface lot. And there are 169 spaces found at the QS1 lot, with free parking available Monday-Friday after 5:30 PM, and all day on Saturdays and Sundays.
